Stoke Gifford Taekwon-do was established in November 2000 by Miss Kerry Burridge with the assistance of Mr Mike Frost who at the time was a 1st Kup (Black Stripe) in Taekwon-do. He went on to achieve his 1st Dan black belt in 2001 and was days away from his 2nd Dan in 2003 when he was tragically killed in a motorbike accident. Although this was a huge blow, his memory lives on and has unified the club and made it much stronger. The club has grown considerably over the years & now has more than 100 training members. The students range from age 4 to 50+ & is a even mixture of both male & female. Many of the students have trained hard & achieved the ultimate rank of black belt. The club has a keen competitive nature with instructor Miss Burridge achieving two world championship titles. She has trained many of the students to national & international level with lots achieving a British champion title. Stoke Gifford student & Assistant instructor Mr Brad May has achieved two bronze medals at a world championship, & student & Team leader Billy Smith has achieved six medals at a European championship. The club looks on these achievements with pride & continues to teach & train all students to be the best that they can. Stoke Gifford Taekwon-do has a team of assistants and helpers, who aid Miss Burridge with the running and teaching of the club. Assistant Brad May, Team leaders Jack Armorgie, Billy Smith , Harry Armorgie & Luke Nethercott & admin Alison May are but to name a few. The club works directly under Master Trevor Nicholls Imperial TKD |
