Well Done
Race for Life Ladies!

Congratulations to all the Stoke Gifford TKD ladies that took part in this years Race for Life at the Downs in Bristol.

All the ladies ran in either Stoke Gifford Doboks or T-shirts, & the age ranged from 6 to 69!

The course of 5Km was completed in good time by everybody, with some running to gain a good personal time, while others walked taking in the atmosphere. A special well done goes to Alison May’s mum, Marilyn who has recently recovered from breast cancer this year, & completed the course with energy to spare.

Many photo’s were taken before, during & after the race & will be available to view soon. The group above were also featured on the local news,  the same evening of the race!

Thanks to everybody that has donated.

A massive well done to Master Don Deedigan on his recent promotion to 7th Degree ITF Taekwon-do Master.

Master Deedigan who has been training in TKD for around 30 years, was promoted after a completing a gruelling 8 hour seminar with Grand Master Choi Jung Hwa, then a 2 hour physical test that was overseen by 5 Taekwon-do Masters.

A really huge achievement that is very well deserved after many years of preparation & dedication.

We are all very proud of him at Stoke Gifford TKD.

The course was also attended by Stoke Gifford students Alison May, Jo Toon & Instructor Miss Burridge.

OUTSTANDING RESULTS FOR STUDENT
BILLY SMITH & THORNBURY STUDENT MITCH ROSS
AS THEY RETURN FROM CROATIA
AFTER COMPETING IN THE ITF EUROPEAN CUP & CHAMPIONSHIPS

Congratulations to Stoke Gifford student Billy Smith for his outstanding achievements in Croatia at the ITF European Championships. Billy entered the individual Cup competition & scooped a bronze in the patterns & a gold in the sparring beating 2 Russian's along the way. He was then chosen at the last minute to form part of  a  junior boys England team, and with only an hours practice the team took on a very experienced Italian team in the finals of the patterns. The boys pulled a draw out of the bag & went on to complete a sudden death pattern, the older Italian team held their own & managed a win leaving the boys with a very well deserved silver medal. The boys also went onto win a further  silver in power & 2 bronzes in sparring & special technique.

Mitch Ross of Thornbury Taekwon-do also competed to a very high standard in Croatia, bringing home an individual Silver in Patterns & Bronze in sparring. He was also part of the Senior male team who came away with a gold in patterns, silver in sparring , silver in power & silver in special technique, which meant that the male team achieved the title of  best overall team.

Instructor Miss Burridge also went out to Croatia as Ladies team coach, & helped the ladies team achieve Gold in sparring, silver in patterns & 2 bronzes in power & special technique. These results helped England achieve the best overall Senior country trophy.

Overall an outstanding trip for Stoke Gifford TKD & Team England

Master Nicholls Seminar

Please click on picture below to be taken to more photo’s of the day

Imperial Bristol TKD was very pleased to host Master Trevor Nicholls VIII Degree to a two hour seminar at Thornbury, Bristol on Saturday 31st October.

The seminar was attended by over 80 students from all over the UK, with grades 5th kup through to 5th Degree. We were also lucky to have the presence of two other Masters Lawes & Deedigan both VII Degree.

Master Nicholls managed to cover many aspect s of Taekwon-do in the two hour session & kept everybody constantly working. There were displays of the most senior pattern Tong-Il (By the Masters) & the 5th Degrees demonstrated So-San the pattern with highest number of moves at 72! The 4th kup blue belts also gave a display of pattern Joong Gun.

The seminar was wrapped up with the customary group photo’s & there was a short break before Master Nicholls along with the other Masters conducted a senior degree testing.  The grading was to include 5 students from Stoke Gifford TKD who were testing for their 1st Degree. As well as the Stoke Gifford students their we various other grades from all over the country, some going for 4th degree.  After a gruelling 3 hours Master Nicholls lined up the students ready to dismiss them. Then one by one he called each individual to the front to give them their result! I’m pleased to say that it was 100 percent pass rate, and all the students seemed pleased & relieved to find out the result so quickly.

Many students concluded their evening at a banquet, with Master Nicholls as guest of honour. The members that had graded were awarded with belts by Master Nicholls, and took the opportunity to have many memorable photo’s taken with him. A successful day was concluded with a relaxing evening where everybody managed to let their hair down & celebrate.

Well done to you all!
