Congratulations to Miss Burridge & student John Smith for completing a parachute jump for the Chernobyl 2000 Ltd charity. It couldn’t have been a better day weather wise. (although the spectators were a little chilly!) Miss Burridge & John did a tandem jump from 10,000 feet, both with absolutely no experience. Miss Burridge would like to thank all at Stoke Gifford who sponsored her helping to raise over £300 for the charity. Please click on the thumbs up photo above to view further photo’s of the day. A massive well done to Stoke Gifford students Josh Wellman & Billy Smith for qualifying as part of the England ITF team to travel to South Korea in July of this year to compete in the World Championships. The England trails were held in local Thornbury, and saw competitors from all over the country enter with the hope of qualifying in the top three for each section to represent their country. Both Josh & Billy entered the same section for patterns & came away with the top two positions, Billy ranked 1st place & Josh 2nd. Billy also qualified in the sparring section, which left Josh with 4 tough sparring rounds to win his place in the top three of his category. He worked hard & managed to come away with a win from all of his fights & qualified 1st place. Josh also went on to qualify in 3rd position for special technique. The club will now look forward to Josh & Billy competing in July. They will be accompanied by their instructor Miss Kerry Burridge who has been chosen to coach the England female team in Korea. The very best of luck to you all. |

A massive well done to Josh Wellman & Billy Smith on their fantastic achievements at the ITF World Championships in South Korea. Both qualified for individual sparring & patterns plus Josh for individual special technique. As well as qualifying for this they were both picked to be part of the 5 man England team. In this team they both achieved an amazing 2 bronzes & a sliver! Josh obtained a Silver medal in the individual 1st degree male patterns & went on to achieve his ultimate goal in achieving World Champion in the middle weight sparring category. Miss Burridge was very proud & privileged to witness both Stoke Gifford students perform to such a high level. A big thank you goes to the Stoke Gifford supporters, Alison May, Stewart Wellman, John & Claire Smith for travelling to encourage & motivate the boys. Congratulations to all.
